Character Development

100 Word Synopsis

I have wrote an 100 Word Synopsis in order to make sure my story makes sense and there are no confusion when it comes to filming the scenes.

A young adult called Fai has a terrible unforgettable nightmare. She wakes up to find it was nothing but a dread but little did she know that the nightmare was going to come true. Her nightmare had a mixture of several disturbing cry’s and images. She tried to run away from this nightmare and try to find solutions. She slowly starts to lose her friends as they start to disappear one by one. A body part from the each victim is delivered to the door and Fai finds her self opening the door to her befriends finger.

The 25 word pitch

A young adult finds herself in a situation she cannot escape from. She tried to run away from her nightmares however there is no escape.

Target audiance

Our group has decided to make our target audience as woman and men under 25. We have made this decision after considering various reasons in why we should and shouldn’t choose each target audience category.

Firstly we haven chosen woman and men under 25 because the audience can relate to the characters and the emotion in the used in the movie.  This is because the main character (Fai) is in the age rage of 20-25 therefore the audience who watch the movie will be able to understand the protagonist in depth. we have also chosen this age rage ands the audience can sympathise  as they can relate to the characters. As the characters are young adults in education environment , our main audience would be people in school , universities and collages as they could relate to some of the situation . Also they will find it interesting as it linked to their daily life.

We have chosen not to make woman and men over 25 because the audience over 25 does not find horror movies appealing to them. also the environment the movie is set will not relate to them and also the language used (slag) would not be understood by people over 25 as they are not words used in the professional world.  this is because the education environment in the 21st century is much different  in comparison to the time the older audience was in the education environment.

it would not also be suitable for men and woman over 25 as the culture and the fashion is different. this also means the terminology used is harder to understand.

Distribution Company Choice

My group has chosen Lionsgate as our production indent because Lion gate produces a lot of horror movies and this is perfect for our film because we have chosen horror as our genre.

Lionsgate Entertainment was founded in 1997 by Frank Johnson JR and it is a Canadian-American entertainment company. Its headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California and United States. The company includes many divisions: Lionsgate Films, Lionsgate Home Entertainment, Lionsgate Music & Publishing, and Lionsgate Television.

There is another production company with the similar name Lions Gate Films although both names refer to the same Vancouver landmark, the Lions Gate Bridge it is not the same production indent.  ‘Lionsgate films does not have a space between the lions and gate. This is the difference between the two production indents.

Lionsgate’s library contains films from the respective companies Lionsgate succeeded-in-interest, such as Trimark Pictures, Vestron Pictures, and Artisan Entertainment, in addition to their in-house material. On November 18, 2012 the production company Lionsgate announced it has passed over the $1 billion mark for the first time with the success of The Hunger Games and the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2

Lionsgate has produced iconic movies such as:
  1. The Saw movies
  2. Ju-on: The Grudge
  3. Sinister
  4. The Twilight Saga.
